Three scams and a cry for attention?

The disturbing thread, for me, is that (if the facts are indeed as alleged and reported) the first three were perfectly willing to allow someone else to be arrested, and perhaps even tried, for a crime that had not occurred.

• Montana - man (39) reportedly shoots himself, pretends he was the victim of a random drive-by shooting while he was hitchhiking (supposedly he was working on a book about the kindness of strangers  in America)
• Utah - man (23) reportedly gets drunk, shoots computer server, pretends to have been mugged
• Pennsylvania - woman (29) reportedly hits two pedestrians with her car, uses a stun gun on a witness, then is found at home apparently trying to pretend she was the victim of domestic violence
• Germany - man from Holland (20) reportedly pretends to be entirely unaware of his identity after allegedly camping with his now-deceased father in the forest for 5 years
