Day 3: Craigellachie to Ballindalloch

We continued south on the former trailbed of the Strathspey Railway through Aberlour, where we stopped in at the visitors' center.

There we learned, to our astonishment, that there is no official certificate, button or badge to commemorate the completion of the Speyside Way. Apparently, the powers that be could not agree on a format. So there's not even a lousy T-shirt. After we expressed our indignation and announced our readiness to design and sell our OWN badges and certificates, the woman brought out copies of a prototype button (with the wrong start and end names) and gave them to us.

Bill very kindly bought us sandwiches at the local shop in Aberlour, and I invested in my own packets of Compeed bandages. Finally, we continued on our way to Carron, where Bill was rewarded for his generosity by getting to be the engineer of a garden-train:

All of my pictures of Scottish thistle came out blurry, unfortunately:

Finally, we arrived at Ballindalloch, where our hosts had large mushroom sculptures at each end of the driveway:

Tony and Helen were lovely, and the food was superb. I slept better at Cragganmore House than I did anywhere else on the Walk. They also had an impressive assortment of games, including mahjong (which we enjoyed loudly well into the evening, to Bob's chagrin).

As can be seen I was the youngster in the group, but also I can now play the easy bit of Mahjong

Bill, you were a great sport and one of our two "jackrabbits" constantly sprinting up ahead of us slowpokes. I seem to recall you won several hands of mahjong too...!
